Anyone want some Lemonade? Plus Blog Candy!!

Sorry about the late start!  I have a BIG meeting this weekend, and I have been preparing for that.

Did you know that this month is 'National Humor Month'?  I thought that I would share with you a 'funny' that just cracked me up, and it kind of goes with my handmade card for today.

I have the Calendar where everyday I flip it over each day.  This is what came up a week or so ago:

I've told you how my husband LOVES his palms, and how he makes our yard into a Tropical Paradise...............well, he always wants me out there with him.  When I saw this I just started cracking up and told him this is how I will plant this year!      And do you notice that she is holding a drink in her hand?  Well, I like to think of that as lemonade and that is why I wanted to share this funny with you today, so you could chuckle while you are looking at my card.

I got this idea from Judy Marshall.  Thanks Judy for the inspiration!  I used a different 'sprig' and changed the words, but other than that it was such a great card I CASE'ed it!

I have seen this type of card all over the place for some time, and have never tried to do one.  Until yesterday!  It was a lot of fun, and quite easy!   I plan on making this one of the cards in my Specialty Class on the 3rd Monday of the month.  We are meeting May 17th at the Kernersville Senior Center (below the library) at 9:45 a.m.    We will be doing 3 cards for $15.00.  Let me know if you would like to attend, and I will set a place for you!

To make this card you just need to use some Carstock Vellum.   I made it around 2 1/2" at the top and 2 1/4" at the bottom.    I cut it  2 1/2" square and then drew a line with my bone folder to make a 1/4" lip that came in on both sides) that I scored from top to bottom on both sides, so i ended up with 2 1/4" at the bottom.  I sponged Summer sun on the inside of the vellum, and glued pieces of the lemon inside too.   I put Sticky Tape on the lip, and once the left side was down, I curved the paper a little to give the cup shape and stuck that side down too.  If you look at my card, you can see how the cup is curved and is wider at the top than it is at the bottom.
I ran some 2 way glue along the top of the 'cup' and then put some Dazzling Diamonds on that to make it look sugary.  I stamped the lemon and cut it to the center so it woudl sit on the cup edge.   I love how it came out, I hope you do too!!

Absolutely loved this card & the cartoon! It is exactly how I like to enjoy the backyard! We did a tropical backyard 3 years ago when we bought our house - 3 palm trees..... every spring since then, we had to take one palm out! And it is back breaking work, believe me! The TX severe snow this winter did our big tree in. Love your blog candy choice! I'm not sure how I let that one slip by me, but I never did get it - hope I can win it from you. Keep up the great work. I love your blog & follow you almost every day.
