Tutorial-Basket using Textured Cardstock
1. From cardstock cut (I used River Rock textured) all are 12" long
8 strips 3/4" wide,
9 strips 1/8" wide,
7 strips 1/2" wide,
2 strips 5/8" wide.

2. Ink all edges (except for the strips, I just inked the entire thing lightly) that will be on the outside of your basket. This will add dimension.

3. Take the 3/4" strips and cross them in a center to make a plus sign, you will want the sponged edges facing down. Make sure to use adhesive to hold together.

4. Keep adding strips. Until it looks like this. Add adhesive to each layer in the center.

5. Put 3 strips together to make 3 long continual strips. This makes it much easier as you are weaving.

6. Start weaving about 2" from the middle. You can put a little adhesive to begin with, this will make it a little easier for you. It will also help if you fold up the edges of the 'basket' after the first row, this will be the bottom of your basket.

7. Continue weaving.....you will need to skip a weave once you are back to the beginning. Don't worry it won't be too noticeable.

8. Glue the ends of two of the 1/2" strips together to make a 24" continous strip(you will also have to skip a weave when you get back to where you started). Weave this and then add one more 1/2" strip. This will be long enough to do the next row of weaving. You will use what is left of the 1/2" to do some finishing work at the end.

9. Trim corners of both 5/8" strips. Use adhesive to the top of 1/2" strip and place on top of 5/8" strip...so it looks like this:

10. Starting 1/4" from decorative edge, make 6 marks 1 1/4" apart. Punch holes and add brads to front (with sponged edge) and adhere to the back.
Attach either extra cardstock or ribbon to this strip as shown.
11. Take these strips and lay them on top of last weave and adhere using sticky strip. This will ensure that it will stay on!! Also, make sure that your handles are spaced across from each other.

12. Trim the strips that are above the edge you just put on.

13. Adhere sticky strip to 2 longest lengths of left over 1/2" strips (or if you are like me, I wanted it to go all the way around the inside so I cut two extra strips) to inside of basket.

Here is the finished product! Voila!!!!

Here is my first basket, I didn't do it as well as the one above, but it's still cute!

If these pictures don't do it justice, or you want to see it in person....Just come by my house in Kernersville, it's very close to High Point, Greensboro and Winston Salem. We can even try it!
